A Return to Regular Programming
After a brief hiatus away from the land of sanity, I have returned. I broke loose from the funk (Not this funk), and got my skinny ass out and about. I took a jaunt along the world’s longest sidewalk, called the Rambla, at over 14 miles long. Tampa is trying to claim it with a measly 4 and change. Get in the sea, Tampa. In either running or today’s walk, my feet have visited about half of it. Today, I got to see the start of it though, so that was cool.
I veered off the main drag to traipse into the old town to see the monuments and some of the cool architecture. I passed the embassies for Turkey and Costa Rica along the way, too, but I didn’t stop in for visits or asylum. I played it cool and drifted past. After I got done, I looked up various places to see what I’d seen, and discovered I’d walked past the US embassy as well. Huh. Butt-ugly building, and the front of the non-descript, boring as shit, rectangular building faces away from the Rambla. That’s probably why I didn’t notice it. Go USA.
The weather is supposed to turn on Wednesday, and it looks like my last days here are going to be wet ones with about an inch of rain each day before I leave on Saturday. I’m glad I got out yesterday for a run, today for a long walk, and am planning my last run in Uruguay for tomorrow. That’ll give me time to get laundry done, so I can pack clothes that have been actually laundered and not washed in the shower when I get back from running. Don’t judge. It’s pretty effective for day-to-day, and enables me to get extra mileage out of my running togs. One and done isn’t really an option, even for socks.
I hereby promise to change that particular habit the day I get a traveling companion. That’s an easy promise for me to make, since it’s one the likelihood of payout though non-zero, is asymptotically close to it and indistinguishable. This old dog won’t need to learn a new trick.
Enjoy the photos of buildings and other man-made stuff.
